The habit of returning to your chosen weights

Assets that rise grow in weight and assets that fall shrink. If you periodically bring them back to your target weights, you can reduce the mistake of buying high and selling low.

    1. Enter your holdings

Enter the name, current price, quantity held and target weight. Cash can also be entered with a price of KRW 1.

    2. Additional contribution

If you have new money to put in this time, enter it too. You can also rebalance by buying only, without selling.

    3. Check order quantities

See the quantity and amount to buy or sell for each stock, and the weights after adjustment.

"Buy and sell to match" trades (total assets + additional contribution) × target weight − current market value. The buy-only method splits the additional contribution among only the assets that are below target, in proportion to their shortfall. Because quantities are rounded down to whole shares, some cash may be left over.

    FAQ

    How often should I rebalance?

Many people set a schedule, such as quarterly, semi-annually or once a year, or rebalance when a weight drifts 5 percentage points or more from its target.

    Won't selling create taxes?

Selling Korean stocks incurs securities transaction tax, and overseas stocks incur capital gains tax on gains above KRW 2.5 million a year. To reduce taxes, choose the buy-only method.
